ENCYMO
European Network of  Children and Youth Mentoring Organisations

A message for Sponsors

You should know, that most of the ENCYMO partner organisations are recognised by their countries' fiscal authorities as charitable organisations. Your donations are tax deductible.

Since the organisations are usually very small you can easily find out for what and how your money is used. Most of it is needed to find volonteers through local campaigns, to screen the candidates and to monitor their mentoring.

Mentoring organisations try to improve the life perspective of a young person.  How much that is worth for him and his mentee can hardly be expressed in money terms. However, mentoring has also an economic benefit for society. A happy and balanced adult costs less to society in terms of unemployment, illness and criminal offenses, and he makes more money than a less balanced person.
Over a life time, avoided costs and additional earnings can run into more than hundred thousand EURO' s. Therefore, helping find a mentor for a young person at risk is a very profitable social investment.

Corporations have a special interest in assisting mentoring organisations financially and encouraging their staff (and retirees) to become mentors. Mentoring then becomes the perfect example for corporate citizenship.   This fairly new concept of corporate citizenship is one of the most prominent examples for factors influencing sustainable growth of the economy and the well being of society.

The non-for-profit organisation MENTORING-EUROPE has been created to inform possible sponsors on possibilities to help promoting the mentoring idea Europe wide including active involvement of corporate staff.
